Here is alternative way on how to switch your web hosting without having your web site go down.

1. Sign up for any web hosting package before canceling your old web hosting account. Make sure it has at least same features with your old web hosting to make sure that your site will never has any problem at the end of the day.

2. Download your entire old web site using a FTP program, or using cPanel backup utility. Then upload your entire web site to your new web hosting account by FTP or using cPanel backup utility again. If you are using FTP, you will need to re-chmod your folders if you are running scripts.

3. If your site having any database, make sure to import the database as well. Its easier if we use same database name with the previous database at you old web hosting.

4. After you have moved all your files to your new account, you need to change your domain name’s name servers. Go to the control panel where you registered your domain name and change the name server to the name server for your new hosting. Please make sure everything is working before you update with your new name servers.

5. After 24-72 hours your domain will be fully propagated and pointing to your new web hosting home. You can check using whois.sc what’s your current name server.

6. You can now cancel your old web hosting and your web site should be fully up and running on your new account.

After all above steps, your site is fully up and running with no downtime experienced at all. In all cases it’s great to backup, cPanel has a great tool to allow it.
